Cajeput, Melaleuca leucadendron (1230). Cajeput is a member of the melaleuca group of plants which includes eucalyptus, niaouli, and tea-tree. All have strong antiseptic properties. Cajeput is most commonly used in steam inhalation because of its strong support for the respiratory system, and decongestive effect. It has a strong, camphor-like, medicinal scent. As a natural analgesic, it makes a wonderful addition to massage oils for sore muscles and joints, but should be well diluted as it can be an irritant. In addition, it repels insects, rids head lice, and acts as a natural flea repellant for pets. Contains 1.8 cineol. This is a pure therapeutic-quality aromatherapy essential oil produced using wild-crafted plants and traditional methods from Viet Nam, and is obtained from the leaves.
